Guilty Pleasure TV

Hello Blog people! I found the newest addition to my blog: Guilty Pleasure TV. Come on, come on. I know you all have some show that you maybe don't want people to know that you watch and actually enjoy, but it's all in good fun. So I'm gonna start by listing my top three and then you all follow suit, link up, and let everyone know your little secret tv show indulgence. Just look at it this way, at least you aren't addicted to worse things...like drugs. Happy Tuesday!

I totally know what you're thinking. Atlanta Housewives, Ashley? YES. I love all the seasons and cities of housewives, but I gotta stay true to my fellow Georgia city and go with this as my top pick for housewives. It has the best drama anyone could ever need. Nene is my favorite on the show and while she comes off a bit rude, her tell-it-like-it-is attitude is addicting. I often describe her as my own personal alter ego. The new season should be on soon and hopefully they will be serving up juicy drama just like always! Everyone should watch this season and take notes on how NOT to act in public.

My next favorite show has to be Jersey Shore, often referred to by some of my friends simply as "Jersey Shit." No matter what anyone says, this show is seriously indulgent and I love to watch it. How could anyone not wanna watch twenty somthings with names like "Snooki", "The Siuation", and "J-WOW" act like absolute maniacs in public? My Thursday nights are filled with this show and I couldn't be happier. It fulfills my need for juicy drama with just enough cat fights mixed in give it a nice balance. And the best part is, I am not a part of any of it. Why have real life drama when you can just watch this every week!? After watching this, there is also no need for this college girl to get ready and go out for a good Thursday night bar hop because my bar scene need has been satisfied thanks to this cast. I cannot wait for it to be back on and this time they will be in Italy, so I would guess my need for traveling to Italy one day will also be fulfilled as well. If anyone has any suggestions on what my cool name can be, I would love to know. I feel like if I am going to watch the show, I should have a name just like they do. Work on it, get back to me!

I am fully aware that dressing up little girls in pounds of makeup and forcing them to prance around a stage for a score is completely ridiculous, but how can anyone not watch this show? It is so extreme its almost as fake and unbelievable as their hair pieces and eyelashes. While I would never make future unborn my daughter do any of the stuff seen on this show, I am addicted to watching these moms showing their daughters (and sometimes sons) as if they are show dogs. The lengths that are taken to win these pageants will leave you in shock, trust me. I somehow cannot bring myself to not watch it. Its coming back on in July on TLC. Check it out and think about how amazing and ridiculous it is all at the same time!

Hope you enjoy! Link up and let me find out all your secrets! Hey, maybe we have some of the same guilty pleasures in common and we could just watch them together! :)

Monday Funday!

Hello my blog people! It's been a while, I know. Things have been crazy busy with everything lately and that leaves little time to sleep much less blog! But don't worry, I am back!
Today, I wanted to start off Monday by trying to raise a little awareness about something I have been working on with help from my classmates. Domestic violence awareness and prevention has been the main focus of my maymester class. We have planned two fundraisers that will hopefully raise our goal of $500 and more. What a lot of people fail to realize is that the cost of leaving an abusive relationship is often too much and staying is a much easier alternative. It is pretty easy to judge people who choose to stay, but we cannot really understand until we have been in it. Luckily, I don't know anyone close to me that has been involved in an abusive relationship, but that doesn't make it any less important to me. All the money that we raise in the next few days will go directly to victims and help them leave and start over. It will take care of costs that they would normally not be able to afford since it is common for the victims to have little or no money once they leave. This is just the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more to be done with this issue and many others. Through this whole 3 week experience, I have met some awesome people and made new friends all while planning these events. It is one of the most humbling things I have ever done and I would like to continue to do more. So, come out and eat some dinner Tuesday and Wednesday and support a worthy cause. You're helping us meet our goal, but you're also helping someone start over. If you can't make it to either of these, you can always get involved in some other way. Go volunteer, donate or create your own event near you.

Tuesday May 24 at Chickfila in Milledgeville 5-8pm
Wednesday May 25 at Bone Island Grill in Eatonton from 5-10pm

Thanks in advance bloggers and I hope to see you all there. Happy MONDAY!

Yo mama.

Obviously, today was mothers day. Its hard to avoid that fact because all week everywhere I turn, there's facebook posts and commercials and sales dedicated to mothers. I don't normally get emotional or dredge up the past, but its hard not to right now. My mom passed away 3 years ago from breast cancer (hence my tattoo and dedication to all things breast cancer related) and while everyday is hard, mothers day is especially so. April 26 was 3 years that she passed away and its still a little unreal at times. I don't talk about it often because I know people feel weird because they aren't sure what to say. My mom was my best friend and I could tell her anything wihout being afraid of what she would say. She was honestly the strongest person I've ever had the privilege to know. She was who she was and made no apologies. I try to live my life the same way. I often struggle with the fact of not knowing how she would feel about the decisions I've made but then realize she would obviously be proud of me no matter what. I guess the point I'm trying to make it love your family and friends while you can but especially your moms. There's a certain hole that is left when you lose someone special but that of your mom can never been filled. Love them to pieces and appreciate them everyday, not just once a year.

I take comfort in knowing that she would be so proud of me and everything I'm doing.

Ps. This is the most debbie-downer blog I've posted yet and I promise they will be far an few in between.
NOW GO HUG YO MAMAS PEOPLE!!

Three things I'm obsessed with:

So I have been slacking on the blog lately. My sincere apologies to all my followers (all 3of you!) if my absence has caused you distress :) so I stole this idea and thought it would be kinda cool to do a list of things I'm into for that particular week. Technically, its Sunday so I'm gonna do it to start off the week!

1.gladiator shoes. I remember thinking when I first saw them that I could never wear them. However, some time later they grew on me and now its safe to call it an obsession.

2.My new lamp! I loveeee it. It's cute and floral and completely me! Yayaya!

3.The royal wedding, and not exactly for the same reasons as everyone else. I didn't wake up in the early morning hours to watch it! I'm fascinated and here's why. I felt like the walk to the atler and her prince was forever long. Also, I know its the royal wedding but it all seemed a little impersonal to me. Very technical and scheduled, not what my idea of a wedding is. As much as I would love to marry a prince (call me, Harry), I don't see anything over appealing about the wedding ceremony. Sorry people!

Feel free to post your own three things! I'd love to read them! Happy weekend! :)
