A Heavy Heart

Last night I posted a random post and at the end I mentioned that my friend's nephew was on life support after drowning. I had spoken with her earlier in the evening and there hadn't been a change, so they were planning to take him off. I didn't actually know that he had passed away until this morning when I heard it on the radio.

I usually try to keep my blog fun and light-hearted, but as I lay in bed right now, I have tried to go to sleep and I just can't seem to take my mind off of this, so here I am-blogging in an effort to clear my head and get some sleep. I know we all feel better after we pound it out on our keyboards.

The pain that it must cause to watch a child pass away, before the parent has to be unbearable. I think we all kind of expect to see our parents pass away in our lifetime, but never do the parents think of having to bury their child at such a young age.

I am no stranger to death and the affects that it is. I think you all know that I lost my mom to cancer when I was a freshman in college. It's not something that anyone ever gets over and if they tell you it gets better, they have no idea what they are talking about. It never gets better or easier, it just gets bearable throughout the days.

I am just so heart broken for this family. This baby was only 2 years old and some things are not meant to be explained or understood by us. I believe in God and all that the Bible entails, but it still makes no sense and I have a hard time accepting that it isn't supposed to. God had a plan and this must have been it and while we don't understand, we just have to trust and let him take care of the rest. That's the whole point of having faith-
TRUST.

Tonight, she told me that her mom (which was the child's grandmother) was taking it hard. Going from being just numb and lifeless to being hysterical the next. I can't imagine the pain that she is going through right now. The parents of this sweet baby can't be doing much better.

I just feel helpless in the whole scheme and I know that all I can do is be there to help in any way that I can. My poor friend is trying take the role of coordinating everything while dealing with her own grief. I know she is exhausted mentally, physically and most of all emotionally.

She is one of my sweet blog friends, but also my in real life friend. I have known her since the 7th grade and she is a great person. I don't want to reveal her on the blog because I feel like that would be overstepping a little bit. All I ask is that you continue to pray for this family and pray that they make it through this difficult week and months and years to come.

If you have made it to the end, thank you for reading. I know that got heavy. I just believe in the power of prayer and that we all have to stick together because we are all fighting the same battle of life. We should always pray for one another, but in times like these especially so.

Thanks for being great bloggers and friends. I will post more updates and in the mean time, we will resume to our normally scheduled nonsense once this crazy week is over! Hope you are having an awesome week!

life lately..

I know, I know... its almost not even Monday anymore but better late than never right? You love me just the same. I hope...

Y'all, like has been so crazy lately, I almost don't even know where to begin. I am finally settling in to being an adult and getting into a routine. It's harder some days than others but I just have to keep on keeping on.

So anyways, aside from work, I have been doing alot of catching up on sleep and shopping. Last week was the huge show in Atlanta where all the business owners come stock up on their merchandise and order new stuff. We worked it for the whole week and ended up working 13 days straight after all was said and done. WHEW! It was so worth it but I was a tired girl when it was over.

I have been eye balling some Jack Rogers and I need some help. Tell me what colors you like the best. Gold? Silver?

Also, I am in the mood to splurge for a new bag, Michael Kors to be exact. Anyone have one they love and think I should explore? Suggestions are needed before I make a bad choice.

I plan on posting some of my fav link ups this week so stay tuned..

Hope you all have a greattttt week!

oh and say a small prayer for a friend of mine please. Her 2 year old nephew drown yesterday and they were taking him off life support tonight. Pray for their healing and comforting during such a hard time in their lives. It couldn't have happened to better people.
I am heartbroken for this little guy and his family who is left behind to live their lives without him. Its a sad situation. Just awful...Just please remember them this week as it won't get any easier anytime soon.

Accomplishment and my absence for the week!

Today I wore wedges all day at work without changing shoes! That's a huge accomplishment for this flip flops only kinda girl. Needless to say, my legs Hurt, but I think they just need to be broken in. I will be out of town until Sunday. I will try to post as much as I can, but don't send a search party out looking for me UNLESS said search party consists of 20 something single men who like to shop and buy me gifts OR Josh Turner is going to part of the search party. In which case, please send out a search party! Hope you all have a great week! And if you can't live without my antics daily, follow me on twitter. I ramble mindlessly on there all day errrryday! Have a great one ladies (and gents)!!

Home

Lately, I have been struggling to find myself. Since graduating in May, so much has happened to me and around me. I have ended a chapter of my life and started another, and my close network of friends seems to be displaced all over the state of Georgia. I graduated, got a job, bought a car, lost some friends to their respective new chapters and haven't had a margarita since who knows when! I know that we all have our own paths to follow in life, but without them all being around me the last few months has been hard. Maybe its selfish of me to think that. I think that in a way in kind of is. I think that my own lack of identity lately makes me want them all the come back and have things back to the way they were a few months ago.

Deep down I know that I need to find myself in this big 'ole world even if that sounds cliche. I know that I have big dreams, but I get impatient waiting for things to fall into place when I see everyone else out there doing what they want and love. I want things to happen now and when they don't I want to make them happen. I have learned that it just doesn't happen like that. God lets things happen in his time and I just need to trust that His plan is ultimately greater than mine and all I have to do is trust his timing for me and my life. Easier said than done!!

As long as I can remember, I have said that I couldn't wait to get out of this small town in Georgia and move to the city where there are always things to do and the possibilities are endless. There is never a dull moment, there are new people and places to discover and gosh knows there are always places to shop. Good places. People know too much about you in a small town. Sometimes that good and sometimes thats bad. I myself am a private person, so for me , I could do without that part. I just have a desire to be on my own and start over fresh. Meet new people, try new things and learn new things about myself. I still have that dream and I can't wait for it to come. I would move tomorrow if given the opportunity. I would be scared, but I would take that leap of faith and strike out on my own to see what life had planned for me.

Sometimes I feel like this small town is just a hole that people get stuck in. I think that its perfect for some people but you either love it or you don't. I don't love it right now. I might get the H out of dodge and then hate it and come back and that's ok too. I know that I have that option always if I feel like I need to come home.

The one thing that is always comforting to me when I think about leaving my small town life and comfort zone that I am so used to, is the fact that I can come back to this place whenever I want and I can expect things to be the same. We can always go back home no matter what. I have been told that since I was a little girl. Home is the one place that we can find comfort no matter how old we get or how tough life is. I just need to do it and not be afraid. I need to take the plunge and find solace in knowing that I can come back if things don't go as planned.

I stumbled across a blog today and its a girl who is from the same town I am from. She had posted a song by Carrie Underwood called "Thank God for Hometowns" and it hit me at the right time. I have been so restless and anxious and ready to get out of here and never look back. When I heard this song, I realized that no matter where I end up, even if its just an hour away, I can always come back to my hometown and find myself again. I can't not come back. Both of my parents are buried here, my family lives here and I have so many memories growing up here. I would never just leave and not look back. I don't think that anyone could.

Thank God for hometowns
And all the love that makes you go round
Thank God for the country lines that welcome you back in
When you were dying to get out
Thank God for Church pews
And all the faces that won’t forget you
Cause when you’re lost in this crazy world
You got somewhere to go and get found
Thank God for hometowns
Yeah

 Thank God for hometowns
First kisses and touchdowns
Thank God for the county lines that welcome you back in
When you were dying to get out
Thank God for Church pews
And all the faces that won’t forget you
And when you’re lost in this crazy world
You got somewhere to go and get found
Thank God for hometowns
Yeah

We all have a hometown, no matter how far away we might be from it. And we know that we can always go home and remember a different time whether or not we choose to go back. The memories and the people who love us are always there. That makes me feel better about moving away. If I fail, I know I have a place and people to come back to no matter what.

And check out this song. It's great! And Carrie is the perfect person to sing it. She is the epitome of a small town girl and she sings it with such conviction!

...the 3 best friends that anyone could have...

Anyone know what movie that little blog title is from?
Go.

I don't know if you know or not, but my two very best friends in the world moved to Valdosta about 2 months ago and I haven't seen them since! We did everything together! Seriously. We are like Three's Company...and I'm not Chrissy. You know, shes the dumb one. (Sorry Shelbs, I guess that means you're it.)

Anyways, they moved down there because my little bestie got into grad school.

Ok, so obvs I am Chrissy. Haters.

We haven't been able to get together since and last night we just sat down and planned it out and nailed down a date! So this time 2 weeks from now I shall be traveling the long, boring road to Valdosta and we will be reunited! I am beyond excited! I miss these 2 like cray cray!

Y'all, these are seriously my sidekicks and my life has been so boring since they left. I know I sound like a huge loser. I have other friends, but none that like to just be spur of the moment. I can either be a planner and have to have things planned out or I can be super spontaneous and have no plans and just get up and go. They make me the spur of the moment kinda people. No stress comes with it either.

I know, I know its complete opposite ends of the spectrum, but I'm not a normal person. Duh. Anyways, here's a little sneak peak of what you can expect on the blog in 2 weeks.
And if we are friends on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, please be prepared for a LOT of checking in, photos and tweets. I'm sorry in advance. Don't hate me!

Enjoy.

We are a blast in a glass. I have known that boy for a longgggg time and he married little Shelby and now we are super close. I couldn't ask for better people to be around. They are the only married people I choose to hang out with! I feel like we are all married when we are together. Polygamy much?

Hope you have a great weekend. I will be planning my weekend! Any ideas? Besides Flip Flops..only MY MOST FAVORITE BAR EVER!!! Shelby says we aren't going, but I will show her whose boss. Plus, I'm the guest. Sorry, I win.

It's OK Thursday

Thursday is almost Friday!!!! EEEK!

I am gonna link up for my most favoritist post everrrrr!!!

It's OK Thursday with Neely! I love that Thursdays are just a free day to post any complaints you have for the week and you can get away with them. It's like in the blogger code to let this day be a bitchin' day.

No seriously, it's written somewhere.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

that I can't seem to generate anything remotely clever to blog about lately. I'm sorry y'all, my creative juices seem to be a little on the dry side. I am trying to be better. Bare with me!

that I want a pet so bad but I know I have zero time in my busy, crazyyyy schedule to add one to the mix. It wouldn't be good for me or the pet.

that I got a new Steve Madden bag via TJ Maxx yesterday because I had a mini major meltdown before work. I must have cried to my bestie for at least 20 mins. Thank God for best good friends. Can I get a "amen?"

that said bestie referred to my new bag as "a luggage piece" I can't find a picture online and I am too lazy to go take one, but its adorable!

that my first car payment is due Monday and while I'm not looking forward writing the check, I can't wait to feel all adult like...actually I can, but still. you get the point
that my face could easily pass for the most heavily pepperonied pizza. Its awful and it makes me not want to leave the house. I mean its never been this bad and I am 23. WTF

What are you OK with?

Go link up.Happy Thursday and happy complainin :)
